the Marlin Hotel was constructed by famed art deco architect Lawrence Murray Dixon in 1939 and later acquired by Island Records founder Chris Blackwell in 1988. the new owner and his outstanding designer Barbara Hulanicki, were instrumental in transforming Miami's South Beach. the Marlin's design, location and recording studio 'South Beach Studios' made the building the centre of South Beach's transformation.
